Who is behind this
My name is Dawud. I was born in the Middle East and I live in Melbourne, Australia.
From about fifteen, one name kept turning up wherever I looked: Yusuf. In books, on signs, in conversations. I could not tell whether I was seeing a pattern or imagining one, and for years I did nothing about it. Then it grew until I had to know who this man was, and the only texts I could get were the Quran and the Torah. Reading his story, I found that his line runs through Ishaq and Ibrahim, and those are the names of my own grandfathers.
I still had no answer to why the name followed me, until one night I dreamed that someone pointed at me and said: "The Gospel gave Joseph a gift." Not long after, I decided to build this dream interpretation website.
I am not a scholar and I claim no gift. What I have is a stubborn eye for patterns, and dreams are patterns and symbols. So I took the classical books, al-Nabulsi, Ibn Shahin, the Muntakhab attributed to Ibn Sirin, and the dream chapters of Bukhari and Muslim, plus some Western sources, and put every entry into a database with its page, so that nothing on this site is an opinion without a source.
When you ask for a human reading, I read your dream myself, search the old books for your symbols and your situation, and write back within 24 hours. I will also reference the books I used, and if anything is my own interpretation outside the books I will say so.
Whether this becomes anything, I do not know. Yusuf's own story began with a dream, so trying costs me nothing but time.
Why charities
This tool is free and always will be. Instead of a price, it asks one thing: if the reading helped you, give something to a child who needs it more than either of us.
Giving is the best feeling I have known. Call it sadaqa, charity, help, the name does not matter. Seeing someone in need smile because of something you did is a joy nothing else has matched in my life, and I want this site to pass that feeling on to as many people as it can.
How the readings are made
Every free interpretation on this site comes only from the classical dream books: al-Nabulsi, Ibn Shahin, the Muntakhab al-Kalam attributed to Ibn Sirin, the hadith collections and the Quran, with Artemidorus, Freud and Jung as a separate Western view. Every sentence cites the page it came from. Nothing is invented.
The personal reading
A personal reading is written by hand by the founder. It starts from the same books, applied to what you tell us about your situation and your life. Where the books stop short, he adds his own reading, always marked as his own, so you know which lines are the books and which are him. It arrives by email within 24 hours, or the payment is refunded in full.
