Bloodletting in a dream, from one who knows it and according to the custom of the bloodletter and the one bled, is an indication of relief and healing from illnesses for one who has need of it. But if it is without need, it is a warning of an illness that will befall that limb. And the one bled in the dream is like one who in waking needs bloodletting in the median vein (al-akhal) and is bled in the basilic vein, or like one who needs bloodletting in the basilic vein and the bloodletter bleeds him in the cephalic vein (al-qifal) — and by this analogy judge bloodletting in the well-known veins. And whoever is bled in a dream in a limb, he will need it to be bled in waking life on account of some occurrence.
