As for jasmine, Abu Sa'id al-Wa'iz said: It is related that a man came to al-Hasan al-Basri and said: I saw as though the angels descended from heaven gathering up the jasmine from Basra. So al-Hasan said, "Truly we belong to Allah and to Him we return," and said: The scholars of Basra have passed away.

A rare anecdote: A man came to Ibn Sirin and said, "I saw a bird descend from the sky and alight upon a jasmine tree, and it began picking the jasmine blossoms that were on it." His face changed colour and he said: This indicates the death of the scholars. And so it was.
