So when he saw upon his forearms two bracelets of gold, which were not part of his attire, since they are among the ornaments of women, he knew that there would appear someone who claims what is not his.

The aptness of this interpretation for this dream is that the people of San'a and the people of al-Yamama had embraced Islam, so they were like the two forearms for Islam. Then when the two liars appeared among them and dazzled their people with the tinsel of their words and their false claims, most of them were deceived by that. So the two hands were in the position of the two lands, and the two bracelets in the position of the two liars; and their being of gold is an indication of what they gilded over, for "zukhruf" (gilding) is among the names of gold.

Ibn al-'Arabi said: It is possible that what the Prophet (peace be upon him) interpreted regarding the two bracelets was by revelation, and it is possible that he took it as an omen against the two of them, to repel their state, and so he applied the aforementioned dream to them, because a dream, when it is interpreted, comes to pass.
